Since the last update I have raced Callville Bay Stage Race in Nevada, Merco Crit and RR in Merced, and just finished up the Tour de Murrieta. The interim from VOS to Callville only brought bad things...bad legs, bad attitude, low self esteem, sickness, and terrible self-confidence. Needless to say, I had a less than stellar performance at Callville. No result to speak of, simply terrible legs and an impending sinus infection. Awesome.
I spent the following week recovering and was able to get in one good workout before Merco. Merco brought the biggest teams in the nation; Peanut Butter 2012, Webcor, HTC-Columbia, and TIBCO. I was a little more than nervous going in and better yet, I was going in solo. None of my teammates were able to make it up for the race, but I think it was a blessing in disguise. I was able to remember how to race again as I had no obligation to anyone else. I attacked and went with moves and suddently found my legs. It was glorious. There was a bad crash w/ 3 laps to go that stopped the race for ~15 min. When we restarted we were all a bit cold w/ 5 to go and I was definitely more on edge. Couldnt move up enough to contest the sprint but finished at 19th... not bad for feeling like poop the two weeks prior. The road race was great for me too. I tried getting off the front a few times and even got my picture in cycling news!

*I'm on the left :)*
This past weekend was a break through of communication for our team. There was rarely a time when one of us was moving up through the field w/o another one on her wheel. Julia and I spent a bit of time off the front both days even though they led to nothing. I wanted to be off the front so badly.. but it just didnt happen. Much to learn as the season progresses. I am pumped that San Dimas and Redlands are so close. I have been working since October for these races and I WILL NOT miss my opportunity to show what I can do. Mental training all week. Here I come.
